Jennifer Carpenter Bio

Jennifer Leann Carpenter (born December 7th 1979) is an American actress. Her credits include Debra Morgan in the Showtime series for which she was awarded a Saturn Award in 2009. She also was Rebecca Harris, whose role was featured on the CBS television show Limitless. In the year 2019, she began playing Erica Shepherd (the lead role in NBC's drama The Enemy Within). Carpenter received her first major attention for her performance on The Exorcism of Emily Rose. She was awarded the 2006 MTV Movie Award for "Best Frightened Performance" as well as a "Hollywood Life Breakthrough Award". She was named Breakout Performer at the 2006 Scream Awards. In 2007, she began dating her Dexter co-star Michael C. Hall. They got married in California on New Year's Day 2008. Hall and Carpenter issued their December 2010 statement in which they announced that they had declared divorce following being separated for "for some time". The divorce was finalized in December of 2011 because of irreconcilable disagreements. But, the couple remain close to each other. Carpenter and Seth Avett announced their engagement on February 10, 2015. Carpenter, who was eight-and half months pregnant when she shot the pilot episode of Limitless and gave birth to her son in May of 2015. Carpenter and Avett were married in May of 2016.
