Rita Ora Bio

Rita Ora is a British singer-songwriter. Rita Sahatciu Ora was born in 1990 in Pristina (Kosovo) to Vera (Bajraktari) and Besnik Sahatciu. She is a granddaughter of director Besim Sahatciu. At age one, her family decided to move to the United Kingdom. She was raised in West London. She attended St Cuthbert with St Matthias CE Primary School in Earls Court. After that she was able to graduate from Sylvia Young Theatre School followed by St Charles Catholic Sixth Form College. She began singing from a young age. In 2004, she was a part of the British movie Spivs. After a successful audition for Eurovision The Country That is in need of You (BBC One) she was picked to represent the UK in the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest. She was later unable to participate in the contest after a couple of episodes because she felt that the stage wasn't ready. Ora has released her first album in 2007 when she appeared on Craig David’s song entitled "Awkward" Then she made a second appearance on "Where’s Your Love" with TinchyStryder. Ora began performing in bars all over London. Roc Nation was informed by an A&R representative about Ora in 2009, just days after Ora traveled to New York and met Jay-Z. In 2009, Ora made a cameo in Jay-Z's video for "Young Forever" and "Over" by Drake. Jay-Z was enthralled by Ora's talents and quietly signed the singer to Roc Nation. In which Ora was featured in a commercial about Skullcandy Aviator Headphones. Her father Besnik was a pub owner and she began her singing shows from the same pub. Gwen Stefani is a major influence on her manner of speaking. She also cites her father, Besnik, who was a pub's owner. Friends with Kate Moss, and Ed Sheeran.
