Renee Kathleen Zellweger
Renee Kathleen Zellweger, was born in
Katy, Texas on April 25, 1969. Her mother, Kjellfrid (Andreassen) is an
ex-nurse and midwife born in Norway. Kven (Finnish), in addition to being of
Swedish and Norwegian descent. Emil Erich Zellweger is her father. He is a
Swiss engineer. They got married in 1963. Renee is a sister to a brother named
Drew Zellweger, a marketing executive who was born on February 15 the 15th of
February, 1967. While in the drama group, Renee became interested in acting.
She also attended an acting class at University of Texas (Austin) which was the
first time she looked at pursuing a career in acting. She was determined to
pursue acting after graduation. However, Hollywood can be difficult to enter,
and so Renee decided to remain in Texas and attempt to audition for roles
around Houston. There, she was able to land roles in films such as Reality
Bites (1994), and Empire Records (1995). While filming the sequel, Texas
Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation (1994) she made friends with Matthew
McConaughey, another Hollywood up-and-comer. Renee saw him working on a project
and auditioned. She was offered the role in Love as well as an offer of a 45
(1994). This earned her enough praise that she moved to Los Angeles. She was
then offered a part in The Whole Wide World (1996) which was an opportunity to
make her debut as a major actress. Cameron Crowe was busy casting his next film
which was Jerry Maguire (1996),starring Tom Cruise. Crowe was looking at
actresses like Bridget Fonda and Marisa Tomei when the performance of Zellweger
on The Whole Wide World (1996). He auditioned Zellweger, and felt certain she
was his Dorothy Boyd. After following her success in a few independent films,
Renee felt confident enough to make a return to the huge-budget Hollywood film
industry. She was a co-star with Meryl Streep in the tear-jerker One True Thing
(1998). She also played a part in Me, Myself & Irene (2000) in which
she starred alongside Jim Carrey, and soon after she began dating Carrey. Bridget
Jones's Diary (2001) was her first film in the title role.
