Rose McGowan

 

Rosa Arianna "Rose", born on 5 September 1973 is an American actress. Her film debut was her brief appearance in the comedy Encino Man (1992), McGowan achieved wider recognition for her performance in the dark comedy The Doom Generation (1995) with an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Debut Performance. Her breakthrough role was in the horror film Scream in the year 1996. The film was followed by films Jawbreaker (1999) as well as Devil in the Flesh (2000). McGowan was most well-known for her performance in Charmed the supernatural drama series on WB from 2001 to 2006. She went on to star in Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino's double-feature film Grindhouse (2007) for which she was nominated to win the Saturn Award for Best Actress as well as the Scream Award for Best Scream Queen. She was featured in the action-thriller series Chosen (2014), and released her debut studio album, Planet 9, in 2018. The album was followed by a repackaging in 2020. McGowan was named the Silence Breakers in 2017 by Time magazine. This award acknowledges McGowan's efforts to combat sexual harassment and assault, particularly with regard to Harvey Weinstein cases of sexual assault and the Me Too movement. In 2018, she published Brave, a memoir, and was a part of Citizen Rose, a four-part documentary series.
