Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell (born August 25, 1949) is an American TV chef who is a popular personality. She also was an instructor for the Institute of Culinary Education. She hosts Secrets of a Restaurant Chef on the Food Network and the co-host of Worst Cooks in America. Anne Burrell, with her trademark spiky blond tresses and pumped-up persona on the Food Network's Secrets of a Restaurant Cook series, shares simple and easy to master cooking techniques that are suitable for the home cook. Chef Burrell was a student and worked in some of the most prestigious New York restaurants. He has also competed in Iron Chef America and the cuisine of Italy. Growing up in the Upstate region of New York Chef Burrell was attracted by the food. The Culinary Institute of America has sparked her interest in restaurant management after she earned an English/Communications diploma at Canisius College Buffalo NY. She states "I loved being a Culinary Institute of American student. I loved every minute of it." I couldn't seem to get enough out of the experience. Following graduation, Burrell spent one year in Italy studying in the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners as well as working at the Umbrian restaurant La Taverna del Lupo as and Tuscany's La Bottega del 30, a Michelin-starred restaurant. During her time in Italy she came to be aware of the philosophies behind Italian food and culture that made a lasting impression in her perspective. Burrell is an ambassador for the celebrity chef for the Juvenile Diabetic Research Foundation and has been on the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board, which helps kids who have challenges. In her capacity as a speaker, she travels across the nation to talk about her love of cuisine and to promote her professional career as a chef. Anne in all her culinary journey has stated that it is a privilege to have the opportunity to share this passion for life with others.
